Glamour Nails & Beauty
How Glamour Nails switched 8 technicians off pen-and-paper in one afternoon — and never went back.

Die Herausforderung
Glamour Nails runs a high-volume walk-in nail salon with 8 technicians. They were tracking everything in a paper appointment book — which meant double bookings, lost customer history, no idea who was due for a visit, and no way to send appointment reminders. End-of-day takings were a guessing game.
Einrichtung Schritt für Schritt
Day 1, 0:00 — Sign up and the wizard
Owner Mai signed up at zibadesk.com on a Tuesday morning. The onboarding wizard asked for the business name, country (Australia → AUD + 10% GST defaults), industry (Nail Salon → loaded a starter service template), and primary language (English). She was able to skip any step and tweak it later.
Day 1, 0:08 — 55 services across 5 categories
The starter template gave her 18 services. She edited prices, kept 14, deleted 4, and added 41 more across Manicure, Pedicure, Nail Art, Lashes, and Beauty. Each got a duration, price, photo, and "Online bookable" toggle. Bulk import from a Google Sheet handled the bulk in one paste.
Day 1, 0:25 — 8 technicians
Mai added all 8 technicians. For each: name, photo, role (Technician), commission rate (40% of service revenue), and qualified services. She set Tina and Lily as the only two qualified for Lash Extensions; everyone else stayed on Manicure / Pedicure.
Day 1, 0:35 — Turn-rotation on
Because Glamour Nails is walk-in heavy, Mai enabled Turn Rotation under Settings → Turn Schedule. Now every walk-in goes to the next technician up — no more "but Lily got the last three" arguments at the front desk.
Day 1, 0:42 — First sale, walk-in
A regular came in for a manicure. Mai rang it up at the POS: walk-in selected, manicure clicked, technician auto-assigned by rotation, $35 + tip, paid by card. The whole thing took 47 seconds.
Day 2, AM rush — 22 sales, no slowdowns
During morning rush (08:30–11:00), 22 walk-ins were rung up at the POS in under a minute each — including loyalty enrolment, tip, and emailed receipt. The previous (paper) system would have meant 5+ minutes per customer at end-of-day reconciliation.
Day 4 — Loyalty Club switched on
Mai turned on the Loyalty Club: 1 point per dollar, $5 reward at 100 points. Every existing customer auto-enrolled by phone number. By end of day, the receipt at every customer's checkout showed their growing balance — small but motivating.
Day 7 — Online booking goes live
Mai shared nailsalon.zibadesk.com on her Instagram bio and Google Business profile. By end of week 1, 12 of 80 weekly bookings were coming through online — overnight slots that would have otherwise been missed.
Day 14 — SMS reminders connected (Twilio)
Mai connected a Twilio account (took ~5 minutes). All bookings now get an automated reminder 24h and 2h before. The 24h reminder is the workhorse — gives the customer time to reschedule rather than no-show.
Day 30 — The numbers
No-shows from 15% to 4%. Online bookings from 0 to 15% of total. Repeat-customer rate from 41% to 50%+. End-of-day reconciliation from 30 minutes to 0 (it's already done).
Ergebnisse
- 30 min Setup time
- −73% No-show reduction
- 15% of total Online bookings (week 4)
- +22% Repeat-customer rate
I tried two other apps and gave up on both. ZibaDesk just worked from minute one — even my newest tech got it without training.
